Natural Wrinkle Remover

Beverly Hills, CA – Finally, an instance where fat is a good thing!

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew Frankel says people can use their own body fat when undergoing facial rejuvenation. The Beverly Hills surgeon, located at the Lasky Clinic, says synthetic materials used in such procedures are not always recognized by the body as human tissue and defenses will occasionally extrude the “invader” from the skin or will not properly heal around the foreign substance.

Facial rejuvenation treats the wrinkles, depressions and grooves that appear on the face due to time, age, sun exposure, gravity and muscle movements. These wrinkles are also referred to as laugh lines, crow’s feet and facial creases.

Fat injections, known as microlipoinjections or autologous fat transplantations, can be great for treating “character lines.” With this technique Frankel carefully harvests fat from the patient’s thighs, abdomen or buttocks. The cells are extracted with either a syringe or a cannula used in liposuction.

Once the fat has been removed it goes through special preparation before Frankel gingerly injects it into facial creases with a syringe. Lines are usually overfilled because the body will absorb some of the fat after the procedure. The entire maneuver takes an hour or less and the patient is under twilight sedation for the whole process. The recovery period is only four or five days and the slight bruising can be counteracted with ice compresses or by consuming fresh pineapple and papaya.

One of the benefits to using fat for facial rejuvenation is the removal of allergic reactions. Also, patients normally can resume normal daily activities almost immediately. The younger looking skin resulting from the procedure can last anywhere from 3 months to a year.

Frankel is a trusted member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Los Angeles Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck surgery, Los Angeles County Medical Association, and the California Medical Association. He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois and is active in clinical research regarding eyebrow position, deep plane facelifts, neck lifts and nasal surgery.
